Cllr Robert Bayford,  Shadow Leader of the Council and Shadow Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.

Robert Bayford moved to Kingsgate in 1985 to provide a better quality of life for his then young family.  His children attended local schools and his wife Jill teaches at Thanet College.   Bob runs his own financial services practice in Broadstairs in partnership with his son Joe.  Bob has been involved in local politics since 1987 and was first elected to Thanet District Council in 1991.  For the past year he has been leader of the Council, having previously served as deputy leader and Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny committee.  He has been a member of Broadstairs and St Peters Town Council since 1995 and was elected to Kent County Council 2 years ago.  He firmly believes that the serious financial challenges that face TDC can only be met by a Conservative administration and that his background as a management accountant enables him to take a strong lead in meeting these challenges.
