General Election 2017 - Craig Mackinlay MP

Thank you

My thanks go to you, the voters of South Thanet who renewed their trust in me to serve as your MP for the next five years.

My local team of volunteers were amazing, delivering across the constituency covering Cliftonville, Broadstairs and St Peters, Ramsgate, Sandwich and the Villages. They made countless calls, erected posters, and we spoke to thousands of residents on the doorstep across the constituency in the short campaign.

I secured 25,262 votes, and a majority of 6,387 (in 2015 it was 2,812) representing 50.9% of the votes cast.

Elections are always crazy times; thanks go to my wife Kati for her support throughout.

I also pay a tribute to all candidates who stood for election. We all had to endure the rough and tumble, abuse and brickbats, rarely warranted.

Many good friends, hardworking MPs lost their seats last night. This was a great sadness and I wish them all well, and a speedy return to the Commons.

My constituency office is back in place to serve you once more.

Kind regards - Craig Mackinlay MP
